Greyhound To Mecca
Greyhound To Mecca
Physical CD
My third CD, Greyhound to Mecca (2010) has some country influence as well as roots and rock. This is another Bombora release. David Minear, who owns Bombora, tells me it’s his favourite album cover on his label. As with all my covers it was done in collaboration with designer Daniel Poskitt. Some people think this is my best record and say the songs have meant a lot to them. There are only a few copies left. When they are all gone I will take a look at redoing some of the songs before releasing it again.
REVIEW FROM PAUL SMITH, Sydney Morning Herald, 2009
“From Darlinghurst to Nashville…”
Sydney based singer-songwriter Dean Thomas' third album is an unassuming gem, much like the man himself.
He has been making music for several years now at home and overseas but has always just fallen under the radar. Whilst this release is unlikely to change that, the acoustic folk tunes are bursting with personality.
From the humour of Lunchtime Lovers"who always seem to have to eat and run" to the dark Nick Cave-like drawl of The Universal Tune, his story-based songs jump from Darlinghurst to Nashville - appropriately blending contemporary and country.
